Daura: Thousands of well-wishers, including former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, Emirs of Zazzau, Kazaure, Dutse, and the 19th Emir of Kano, are in Daura, Katsina, awaiting the arrival of the body of former President Muhammad Buhari. The body, which arrived from London, was received by President Bola Tinubu in Katsina before being transported to Daura, Buhari's hometown, in a motorcade.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the body of the former President, who passed away on Sunday, was received with solemnity and respect. The procession from Katsina airport to Daura was accompanied by President Tinubu and other top government officials. The interment is set to take place in Daura following the offering of prayers.
In addition to the dignitaries mentioned, other notable figures present at the residence of the late former president include the Governor of Bauchi, Alhaji Bala Mohammed, and former Governors of Kaduna, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, and Sokoto, Aminu Tambuwal. Former Governors of Kogi, Borno, Ekiti, Katsina, and Kebbi were also in attendance, alongside former Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, former IG of Police, Mohammed Adamu, and Ambassador Babagana Kingibe.
News Agency of Nigeria also reports that thousands of well-wishers have gathered at the venue to bid farewell to the former president. The funeral prayer will take place in Daura, marking the final resting place of the former leader.
