Tanga: Tanzania and Kenya have taken a significant step toward strengthening diplomatic and trade relations by officially launching a cross-border fiber optic link. The connection integrates Tanzania's National ICT Broadband Backbone (NICTBB) with Kenya's undersea cables in Mombasa via the ICT Authority of Kenya.
According to Nam News Network, the inauguration ceremony took place in Horohoro, Mkinga District, Tanga Region. It was officiated by Tanzania's Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Jerry Silaa, who stated that the project will open up new opportunities for citizens in both countries to access affordable and reliable internet services, thanks to improved communication infrastructure.
