Tanzania and Algeria Celebrate 61 Years of Diplomatic Relations

Dar es salaam: Tanzania and Algeria have jointly celebrated 71 years since Algeria's revolution and 61 years of diplomatic relations between the two nations, highlighting decades of cooperation in development, trade, and education. The event, organized by the Algerian Embassy in Tanzania, brought together senior government officials, retired leaders, and members of the diplomatic community.

According to Nam News Network, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Dr. Ngwaru Maghembe, represented the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, at the ceremony held in Dar es Salaam. Dr. Maghembe commended Algeria for its achievements over 71 years of independence and for fostering 61 years of diplomatic ties with Tanzania, describing the partnership as rooted in mutual respect, historic solidarity, and friendship.

Dr. Maghembe highlighted Algeria's stable and resilient economy, excelling in sectors such as oil production, pharmaceuticals, electricity, education, and healthcare. He acknowledged Algeria's role in Africa's liberation movements, noting its support during struggles for independence across the continent. He reaffirmed Tanzania's commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation in investment, trade, education, health, and energy, aimed at benefiting citizens of both countries.

Algerian Ambassador to Tanzania, Ghalib Zermane, reiterated his country's commitment to deepening ties, emphasizing that the historic partnership continues to grow rapidly. Zermane stated that Algeria will continue to collaborate with Tanzania in trade, investment, and development to grow economies and expand opportunities.

Diplomatic relations between Tanzania and Algeria were officially established in 1964, shortly after Tanzania gained independence. Since then, the two countries have reinforced cooperation through education programs, training initiatives, investments, and political and economic collaboration.
