Sauka Women Receive Maternal Care Support as Rotary Marks Health Month

Abuja: The Rotary Club of Abuja Capital and the New Era Ambassadors held a life-saving outreach for women and children in the Sauka Community, Lugbe, Abuja on Saturday. This initiative was part of their efforts to mark Mother and Child Health Month, focusing on providing essential healthcare support to underserved populations.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, over 80 pregnant women from the community gathered at the Divine Reign Ultimate Clinic in Sauka. These women received crucial supplies including mosquito nets, sanitary pads, tissue paper, soap, detergents, disinfectants, and financial assistance to help with maternity expenses.

Mrs. Omoboyewa Enenmoh, President of the Rotary Club, highlighted the clinic's vital role in the community, offering antenatal care, necessary hospital referrals, health education, and support for vulnerable women. The outreach aligned with Rotary International's focus on maternal and child health, emphasizing this year's global theme: 'United for Good.'

Dr. Bunmi Oyeleke, a resident doctor at the clinic, emphasized the importance of maternal health and access to family planning services in improving health outcomes for women and children. She noted that family planning helps women manage their reproductive health, reducing complications during childbirth, particularly for adolescents and those with closely spaced pregnancies.

Both Enenmoh and Oyeleke called on local governments and NGOs to provide sustained support for grassroots clinics like Divine Reign. They stressed the need for community and governmental collaboration to ensure continued healthcare services in underserved areas, particularly with the absence of an approved Primary Healthcare Centre in Sauka Community.
