Abuja: The Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) has appointed Mr. Henry Ugwu as the new National Secretary General of the association with immediate effect. The announcement was made by the Executive National President of RTEAN, Alhaji Musa Mohammed, in a statement released in Abuja.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Mohammed emphasized that the decision was taken in strict compliance with the association's constitution and in alignment with the provisions of the Trade Unions Act, Cap. T14, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria (as amended). The association has urged all members, stakeholders, government institutions, security agencies, and the general public to recognize Mr. Henry Ugwu as the legitimately appointed National Secretary General of RTEAN.
Mohammed further explained that the National Executive Council (NEC) of RTEAN held a duly convened meeting on Thursday. The meeting, presided over by the Deputy National President (Administration), Amb. Mohammed Bishara, involved deliberations on the report and recommendations from an investigative committee. This committee was constituted to examine allegations of misconduct against Mr. Yusuf Adeniyi.
After thorough consideration of the committee's findings, the NEC resolved to dismiss Mr. Yusuf Adeniyi from his position as the National Secretary General of RTEAN with immediate effect. Mr. Adeniyi is no longer authorized to act, function, or represent himself in any capacity as Secretary General of the association.
