Reps C’ttee to Collaborate with NECO, WAEC, Others to Boost Education Standard

Abuja: The House of Representatives Committee on Basic Education and Examination Bodies has pledged collaboration with relevant agencies to improve the standard of education in the country. Chairman of the committee, Rep. Oboku Oforji (PDP-Bayelsa), made the pledge in an interview with newsmen on Tuesday.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Oforji spoke on the sidelines of the oversight on the ongoing National Examination Council (NECO) examinations in Abuja. NAN also reports that centres visited included: Federal Government Boys College, Apo and Model Secondary School Maitama, Abuja, among others. Oforji expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the ongoing examination and highlighted the positive impact of the reforms being implemented.

Oforji stated that the committee was committed to working closely with NECO, the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NAPTEB), and other examination bodies. He emphasized the importance of NECO and expressed pride in its current operations under the leadership of Prof. Ibrahim Wushishi. He also noted the dedication of students and the promising future of education in Nigeria.

The lawmaker assured of the National Assembly's commitment to monitoring all reforms to ensure their implementation for the good of the country. He reiterated the parliament's readiness to collaborate with all examination bodies, including WAEC, NECO, JAMB, NABTEB, to enhance the education sector.
