Abuja: The management of Nigeria's largest virtual cinema platform, Circuits, has introduced a free-to-view solution for digital content distribution. The announcement was made by the Chief Operating Officer of Circuits, Mrs. Imade Bibowei-Osuobeni, to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Bibowei-Osuobeni explained that the new offering aims to enhance affordability and access, allowing users to rent curated bundles of content for seven or 21 days. Initially focused on showcasing films from leading Nollywood filmmakers, Circuits has established early credibility by making these films free to view. The COO stated that their FlexiWatch feature is a response to the consumption preferences of African audiences, providing flexibility, affordability, and access to top content from across the continent.
The feature has gained popularity among users seeking more control over their viewing choices. Beyond its viewing model, Circuits is contributing to the growth of Africa's creative economy by creating employment opportunities in content creation, social media management, and marketing. For creators, Circuits offers a sustainable and empowering approach to digital distribution, complementing both local and global platforms with a solution tailored to African realities. The platform supports creators with a secure and adaptable system, collaborating across the digital content ecosystem.
Celebrated for its multilayered content protection approach, Circuits is accessible via web, mobile apps, and smart TVs, bridging African stories to a global audience. Bibowei-Osuobeni emphasized the platform's role in shaping a future where African content thrives and transcends borders. With thousands of users worldwide and on track to reach its first million, Circuits is more than just a platform; it is a growing cultural infrastructure designed to celebrate African creativity and support digital inclusion.
In addition to streaming films, Circuits, also known as Circuits TV, offers a diverse range of African content, including series, documentaries, short features, and comedy shows. The platform's capability to deliver large-scale live entertainment globally has been demonstrated through real-time events reaching thousands of viewers. Since its launch in late 2024, Circuits has steadily grown by making premium content accessible, affordable, and secure. Viewers pay only for what they watch, without monthly subscriptions, and can purchase movie tickets at a considerably lower cost compared to traditional cinemas.
The platform has expanded its catalogue to include content from English-speaking African countries and has recently moved into Francophone regions such as Senegal and C´te d'Ivoire, premiering the award-winning film, Souleyman's Story.
