Kogi: The Senior Special Assistant to the Kogi State Governor on Road Safety Matters, Dr. Yusuf Suberu, has called for a strengthened partnership with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to enhance road safety awareness and reduce accidents in the state. Suberu made this appeal during a courtesy visit to the Kogi State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Corps Commander Kumar Tsukwam, in Kogi.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the visit coincided with the FRSC's management meeting and focused on improving collaboration. This initiative is aimed at ensuring the successful hosting of the upcoming 2-Day Road Safety Summit, planned as part of the activities to commemorate the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims. During the meeting, Suberu praised the FRSC's efforts in saving lives, emphasizing their role in public health and safety. He highlighted the importance of continuous training for operatives to address emerging road safety challenges and advocated for a diplomatic and educational approach in interacting with road users.

He mentioned the recent restriction on the daytime movement of heavy-duty vehicles as a decisive measure by the administration to reduce road traffic incidents and protect lives.
In his response, Corps Commander Tsukwam welcomed Suberu's visit and described his appointment as a valuable asset to the state's road safety initiatives. Tsukwam promised full cooperation in implementing policies to make roads safer. He also stressed the importance of implementing the National Vehicle Identification Scheme (NVIS) in the state to address issues like the use of fake number plates and criminal activities on highways.
