Green Revolution Farmers Secure 200 Hectares in Anambra for Agricultural Development

Anambra: Green Revolution Farmers Feed the Nation Foundation (GRFFN) initiative has secured 200.71 hectares of land in Umueje Community, Ayamelum Local Government Area of Anambra for agriculture purposes. Amb. Jonathan Okwudiri, Founder and Director General of Royal Ambassadors, the parent body of GRFFN, announced this at the inauguration of its corporate office at Amaenyi, Awka.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, the foundation has established smart farm settlements in Umueje Community and Ugbene Community in Awka North Local Government Area to enhance sustainable food production in Anambra and beyond. The project is in collaboration with Anambra and Federal Ministries of Agriculture and Livestock Development. The initiative aims to alleviate hardship, hunger, and poverty in Nigeria and Africa by 2030, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals.

Okwudiri emphasized that the foundation will offer financial support, technical training, capacity building, market access, and mentorship to its members. He encouraged individuals and cooperatives to join the agricultural revolution by registering with GRFFN.

Umennayia Akunnaka, Deputy President of Young Women Ambassadors, highlighted their mission to empower women, youth, and vulnerable individuals in Nigeria through advocacy, capacity building, and support services. The Anambra Chapter of Royal Ambassadors boasts a strong membership of about 30,000 women and youths across the 21 local government areas, with a grassroots presence committed to the visionary leadership's directives.

Dr. Foster Ifejiofor, Commissioner for Agriculture in Anambra, praised the GRFFN initiative for aligning with the regenerative agriculture policy of the Prof. Chukwuma Soludo administration. Represented by Mrs. Ifeyinwa Uzoka, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, he revealed the state government's plans for irrigation farming to ensure year-round productivity. He urged farmers to adopt organic farming and plant short-duration crops for economic viability and profit, assuring them of government support and connections with buyers.
