Abuja: The Governor of Plateau, Mr. Caleb Mutfwang, has emphasized the quality and uniqueness of goods and services produced in the state during the Plateau Special Day at the ongoing 20th Abuja International Trade Fair (AITF). He urged investors, entrepreneurs, and traders to seize opportunities in the region to foster a sustainable economy.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the AITF, which commenced on September 25th and will conclude on October 6th, 2025, is themed 'Sustainability: Consumption, Incentive, and Taxation.' Governor Mutfwang stated that Plateau is committed to enhancing its mineral resources, promoting Small, Medium, and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs), and branding its goods and services. He extended an invitation to investors to help build a thriving economy driven by the non-oil sector, showcasing the state's best products globally.
Governor Mutfwang highlighted initiatives in agriculture, such as product branding and standardization, and improvements in the state's transportation network and business environment. He also mentioned collaborations with Small-Scale Industrialists and efforts to reorganize the mining sector for sustainable development. The state's strategy includes building neighborhood markets and technology hubs and processing key crops like potato, coffee, and hibiscus for export via a proposed cargo airport.
Representing the governor at the event was Mr. Mohammed Nyalun, Commissioner for the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. Mr. Agabaidu Jideani, Director-General of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mines and Agriculture (ACCI), praised the fair's theme as timely and relevant. He noted Plateau's vast mineral resources and potential for sustainable growth, emphasizing the mutual benefits of the relationship between ACCI and the state, including new market access and investment opportunities. Jideani commended Plateau's resilience and enterprise, expressing readiness to collaborate on economic and developmental initiatives.
