Former President Buhari Remembered as Courageous and Patriotic by Jonathan

Abuja: Former President Goodluck Jonathan has expressed sadness over the passing away of former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing him as a courageous leader who exemplified selflessness and patriotism. Jonathan conveyed these sentiments in a condolence message issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Okechukwu Eze, in Abuja on Sunday.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, the late Buhari, who died at the age of 82 years on Sunday in London, was deeply admired across all strata of the Nigerian society because of his honesty and discipline. Jonathan noted that he received the news of Buhari's death with a heavy heart and profound sense of national loss. He described Buhari as a notable leader, patriot, and elder statesman who served Nigeria both as a military head of state and president to the best of his abilities.

Jonathan emphasized that Buhari will be remembered as a courageous leader, a disciplined officer, and a committed public servant who made considerable contributions towards the peace and progress of the nation. He highlighted that the late president was admired across all societal levels for his decency, integrity, and exemplary life of service. Jonathan regarded Buhari as a selfless leader, committed to duty, and serving the country with character and patriotism.

Jonathan expressed that with Buhari's passing, Nigeria has lost one of its foremost leaders, and he has lost a respected colleague and elder. He stated that Buhari's legacy will continue to endure in the hearts of those who value sacrifice, integrity, perseverance, and devotion to national ethos. On behalf of his family and the Goodluck Jonathan Foundation, Jonathan extended his heartfelt condolences to Buhari's immediate family, the people of Katsina State, and all Nigerians mourning the loss. He prayed for forgiveness of Buhari's shortcomings, acceptance of his good deeds, and granting him Jannatul Firdaus.
