The Sir Ahmadu Bello Foundation, established in 2009, is a non-political, non-profit, and nonreligious organization. It honors the legacy of Sir Ahmadu Bello, the Sardauna of Sokoto, who was the only Premier of the defunct Northern Nigeria and contributed significantly to the region's political, educational, and economic development. NAN reports that the Foundation was founded in response to a collective desire among stakeholders in Northern Nigeria to preserve the late Sardauna's legacy.
