Mr. Eze emphasized that this initiative is part of the Renewed Hope Agenda of the current administration, aimed at minimizing interference and undue pressures in the promotion process. The FCT Civil Service Commission is pioneering this ap proach in Nigeria, with the expectation of releasing results promptly to prevent any external influence. Mr. Eze also highlighted that the FCT Minister, Mr. Nyesom Wike, established the commission with the approval of President Bola Tinubu. This move is intended to address the longstanding backlog of promotions. The commission is currently undertaking a verification exercise to determine the workforce strength of the FCT, with the aim of clearing the backlog once the verification is completed. The minister has already resolved some outstanding promotions dating back to 2019, up to the level of deputy directors. During the exercise, the commission identified several instances of age falsification in service records. Those found guilty have been retired from service.
