Ethiopia and Russia Forge Ahead in ICT and Business Cooperation

Addis Ababa: Ethiopian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Russia, Genet Teshome Jirru visited the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Moscow, today: Ethiopian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Russia, Genet Teshome Jirru, engaged in discussions with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Moscow to enhance bilateral business ties and cooperation in key areas. According to Ethiopian News Agency, the ambassador met with Vladimir Platonov, President of the Chamber, Vladislav Mishchenko, Vice President, and Lidiya Lukashenko, Head of the Department for International Cooperation. The discussions centered on strengthening business activities and promoting business ties between Ethiopia and Russia. During the meeting, the President of the Chamber emphasized the significant role played by embassies in fostering economic and business relations between Russia and other countries. He also identified potential areas for cooperation, including ICT infrastructures, digitization, experience shar ing, education exchange and training programs, sustainable urban development, and smart city initiatives. Ambassador Genet highlighted the favorable investment climate in Ethiopia, specifically in sectors such as agriculture, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, and mining. He noted the support provided by the Ethiopian government for foreign investors and requested the Chamber's leadership to support joint promotional activities in priority areas in Moscow. Both parties agreed to collaborate on promoting business opportunities through the Chamber and AFROCOM, aiming to strengthen the economic partnership between Ethiopia and Russia.
