Elders Praise Governor Nwifuru’s Focus on Rural Infrastructure and Human Capital Development

Abakaliki: The Ebonyi Council of Elders has expressed appreciation for Gov. Francis Nwifuru’s efforts in prioritizing rural infrastructure and human capital development across the 13 Local Government Areas of the state. Chief Benjamin Okah, Chairman of the Council, shared this sentiment during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abakaliki.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Chief Okah highlighted the positive impact of the Governor’s initiative known as the ‘People’s Charter of Needs’. This initiative has been well received by residents and is noted for its beneficial influence on various aspects of life within the state. The focus on rural infrastructure and human development, particularly in the sectors of education, health, and agriculture, is seen as essential for the socio-economic advancement of the state.

Chief Okah elaborated on the infrastructure developments, stating that communities are being connected through an expanding road network. The Governor has initiated two-kilometer road projects in multiple communities, with some projects already completed and others underway. This development is expected to facilitate easier access for farmers to reach their farms and transport crops to urban areas.

Furthermore, Chief Okah emphasized the Governor’s dedication to providing democratic dividends to all residents of the state. The establishment of the Economic Advisory Committee is a strategic move to assist the state government in crafting and executing policies that maximize the benefits of state resources. In the areas of agriculture and economic improvement, Ebonyi has been making strides in mining its mineral resources, including efforts to revive the Nigercem.

In addition to limestone, the state is rich in natural resources such as lead, salt, and zinc. The state government is also developing educational skills based on vocational studies, with the Economic Committee collaborating closely with the Governor to ensure effective implementation.
