Abuja: The Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) has granted accreditation to six Foreign Defence Advisers and Attaches from Angola, Brazil, China, France, India, and South Sudan, thus formalizing their postings to Nigeria. This announcement came on Thursday, highlighting the agency's role in fostering international cooperation.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Maj.-Gen. Emmanuel Undiandeye, the Chief of Defence Intelligence (CDI), emphasized the importance of this accreditation as it signifies a stamp of authority and approval for the attaches' roles in Nigeria. He underscored the critical nature of partnership and cooperation in promoting global peace and security, urging the newly accredited advisers to adhere to the established protocols and guidelines governing their roles.
Maj.-Gen. Undiandeye assured the attaches of the DIA's commitment to facilitating their work and enhancing bilateral relations between Nigeria and their respective countries. He stated that their accreditation symbolizes enduring partnerships and a shared commitment to promoting peace and addressing common challenges globally. The CDI also encouraged the attaches to engage actively in improving global conditions and ecosystems.
Brig.-Gen. Ojogbane Adegbe, Director of Foreign Liaison at the DIA, reminded the attaches of the importance of familiarizing themselves with the guidelines and procedures governing their conduct. He noted that direct correspondence with Defence or Services Headquarters is prohibited without going through the agency and emphasized the need for notifying the DIA when traveling out of the country or visiting military formations.
