Abuja: The Delta Government has praised the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) for the successful completion of the 2024 Special High Impact intervention at the College of Education (CoE), Mosogar. The government described TETFund's involvement as timely and significant for the institution's development.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Chief Akpodiogaga Emeyese, the Chairman of the Governing Council of the college, highlighted the completed projects, which include a furnished school of education complex and an administration building. He explained that the school complex features a suspended floor storey building with classrooms and offices, while the administration building comprises two suspended floor slabs with offices and an administrative block, all well-furnished and equipped.
Emeyese emphasized that TETFund's intervention is enhancing the quality and standards of public tertiary education in Nigeria. He noted that the college, established in 2002, currently offers National University Commission (NUC) approved affiliate degree programs with three universities-University of Benin (UNIBEN), Delta State University (DELSU) Abraka, and Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Port-Harcourt-along with over 15 academic programs, including postgraduate degrees.
The board chairman outlined the college's vision to be a center of excellence in education, aiming to develop well-rounded individuals capable of achieving their goals. He expressed that the institution has the potential to evolve into a full-fledged university, supported by its current manpower and infrastructure.
Emeyese appealed for the completion of the 2024 TETFund annual intervention projects, which include a modern library complex, an ultra-modern hostel for male and female students, a 500-capacity ICT center for JAMB exams, and a Provost Lodge. He highlighted the college's strengths in sports education, ICT, and technology development, citing the presence of a career service center, standard science laboratories, and student accommodations.
He further noted the college's secure perimeter fence, reliable water and electricity supply, including backup generators and solar power systems, Wi-Fi internet, an Olympic-sized swimming pool, demonstration schools, and staff welfare buses. Emeyese urged TETFund, under the leadership of Mr. Sonny Echono, to maintain the positive working relationship with the outgoing Provost, Dr. Isreal Imide, who is set to hand over to his successor, Dr. Samuel Ugboduma.
