Abuja: A Civil Society Organization (CSO), Initiative for Leadership Development and Change (ILDC), has urged workers to unite against all forms of corruption for national progress. Chief Ugochukwu Nnam, President of the CSO, made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in commemoration of Workers' Day.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Nnam congratulated workers on May Day, emphasizing the crucial role that trade unions and civil servants can play in advocating for anti-corruption policies. He stated that supporting workers who report corruption and refusing to pay or yield to bribe demands can significantly disrupt corrupt practices.
Nnam commended workers for their dedication to Nigeria's development and highlighted their role in fighting corruption through reporting unethical behavior. He advised workers to be proactive in the fight against corruption by implementing robust whistleblower protections and promoting transparency and accountability within their organizations and communities. He emphasized that these efforts could foster a culture of integrity and deter corrupt practices.
The ILDC president also praised President Tinubu for his commitment to addressing workers' issues, urging continued support for his administration. He acknowledged current economic challenges but expressed optimism that they would soon be resolved. Nnam reassured that the future for workers and Nigerians at large is promising with the ongoing economic reforms by the federal government. He encouraged Nigerians to remain steadfast in their service to national progress, assuring them that there is hope ahead.
