Buhari Leaves Legacy of Discipline and Integrity, Says NAN Managing Director

Abuja: The late former President Muhammadu Buhari has been remembered for his contributions to Nigeria, marked by discipline, integrity, and patriotism, according to Ali M. Ali, Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN). Ali expressed that the news of Buhari's passing was shocking and highlighted that future generations would learn valuable lessons in patriotism and dedication from his life.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Buhari passed away on Sunday at a London clinic after a prolonged illness, at the age of 82. Ali noted that Buhari's legacy will be defined by his commitment to discipline, integrity, and his efforts in the fight against corruption. His leadership, characterized by a focus on the ordinary people, remained untainted throughout his tenure.

Ali also mentioned the numerous testimonies from associates and friends, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, former presidents Goodluck Jonathan and Olusegun Obasanjo, and various foreign dignitaries, which depicted Buhari as a cerebral and humble leader with strong grassroots ties. Ali expressed his prayers for Buhari to be granted Aljannah Firdaus and extended condolences to Buhari's family, Nigerians, and the people of Katsina and Daura.

Buhari served as Nigeria's President after being elected twice, in 2015 and 2019, and also held the position of military head of state from January 1984 to August 1985. In honor of the late president, the Federal Government has declared Tuesday a public holiday, with national flags flying at half-mast in all public places. Buhari's burial is scheduled for Tuesday in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State.
