Lagos: Dr Oladega Adebogun, founder of Caleb Group of Schools, has described Africa's rapid urbanisation as both an unprecedented challenge and a golden opportunity for sustainable development.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Adebogun made these remarks in a statement issued by Mr Olawale Adekoya, Information and Media Officer of Caleb University, during a keynote address at the 24th Annual Conference Gala Night of the African Real Estate Society (AfRES). Represented by the Vice Chancellor of Caleb University, Prof. Olalekan Asikhia, Adebogun emphasized the theme, 'Building for the Future: Sustainable, Inclusive, and Prosperous African Communities', as a call to action for the continent's leading real estate professionals.
Adebogun highlighted the responsibility of real estate professionals as "custodians of the land and shapers of the skylines," urging them to move beyond conventional construction practices. He delineated a three-part mandate for the industry: adopting green technologies to ensure sustainability, advocating for affordable housing and inclusiveness for women and youth, and creating spaces that foster economic prosperity.
The conference also featured an award ceremony led by the immediate past President of AfRES, Dr Adekunle Awolaja, which honored notable contributions in both academic and industrial realms. Awolaja noted that this recognition reflects the sector's dedication to fostering talent and innovation.
