ACCI Calls for African Unity in Trade and Investment at 20th Abuja International Trade Fair

Abuja: The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) has called on Africans to enhance trade, investment, and development efforts to achieve greater economic sustainability. Chief Emeka Obegolu, President of the ACCI, made this appeal during the 20th Abuja International Trade Fair (AITF) held in Abuja.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, the theme of the AITF, 'Sustainability: Consumption, Incentives and Taxation,' highlights a collective determination to tackle urgent economic and environmental challenges. The fair has evolved from a modest exhibition into Nigeria's leading multi-sectoral trade platform and one of Africa's most prominent trade events. Obegolu emphasized that the event serves as a call to action for Africans to engage in intra-continental trade, investment, and development. It provides a strategic platform for business leaders, government institutions, and international partners interested in exploring trade prospects within Africa.

The ACCI also hosted the second edition of the investiture of National Policy Fellows (NPF) during the event, recognizing individuals who have made significant contributions to business and economic development across various fields. Twelve distinguished nominees were inducted, reflecting the expertise and dedication required to shape Nigeria's future. The NPF initiative underscores ACCI's commitment to fostering a dynamic and thriving economy and enhancing Abuja's reputation as a hub of economic excellence.

Mr. Jani Ibrahim, National President of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (NACCIMA), praised the ACCI for its efforts in attracting exhibitors and investors to Nigeria. He highlighted the importance of global thinking, local action, and international competition on contemporary global issues, emphasizing Nigeria's need to lead in digital trade, e-commerce, and innovation.

Mrs. Fatima Abdurrahman, representing Dangote Industries Ltd, described the company's partnership with the ACCI as strategic, aimed at fostering a prosperous and industrialized Nigeria. She stated that the fair's theme was strategically relevant, integrating sustainability into economic strategy and national development.

International representatives at the event also expressed their commitment to supporting ACCI's efforts to promote Nigeria's economy.
