THE 17TH GFCS PROJECT DELIVERY TEAM (PDT) INVITED DEVELOPMENT PARTNERS, NGOs AND SECTOR MINISTRIES TO BRAINSTORM ON IMPLEMENTATION OF NATIONAL FRAMEWORK FOR CLIMATE SERVICES.

On 17 th January 2019, The Global Framework for Climate Services (GFCS), Tanzania Project Delivery Team (PDT) organized an extended PDT with invitees from UN agencies, NGO's and Sector Ministries with the aim of obtaining needs and suggestions for effective Implementation of the NFCS.

During the opening of the meeting, the acting PDT Chair Mr. Juvenal Kisanga appreciated the participation of the invited participants' I appreciate the participation of NGOs, Sector Ministries, and Development partners as I believe they have crucia role in succesfuly implementation of the NFCS, and their presence will assist in gathering needs, ideas and suggestions for efective implementation of the NFCS 'said Mr. Sorrow.

The National Assembly, TANESCO, Tanzania's Renewable Energy Association (TAREA) and the Climate Action Network TZ (CANTZ) have been invited by the President's Office, TANESCO, Center for Community Initiatives TZ (CCItz).

On the other hand, PDT received progress reports on implementation of the GFCS APA phase II from the Tanzania Red Cross Society (TRCS), the Tanzania Meteorological Agency (TMA), the World Food Program (WFP) and the Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children (MoHCDGEC), and encourage other project partners to speed up implementation of agreed activities. The PDT was also briefed about the TADMAC meeting, which was held on 4 th January 2019. Dr. Agnes Kijazi, the Director General of Tanzania Meteorological Agency, and Ms. Mecklina Merchants, the GFCS Desk Officer attended the meeting and presented a progress report on the implementation of GFCS Phase II.

PDT is responsible for monitoring progress on program activities, planning and implementing joint activities, which normally meets quarterly and consists of participants from Tanzania Prime Minister's Office (PMO), Vice President Office (VPO), Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and the Child (MOHCDGEC), the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA), the World Health Organization (WHO), the World Food Program (WFP-TZ), the Tanzania RedCross Society (TRCS) and the Tanzania Meteorological Agency (TMA).
