Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA), Instrumental Landing System (ILS) project for Abeid Amani Karume International Airport (AAKIA) is heading for completion reaching more than 95 percent of its implementation as of December 19, 2019.

The observation was made by TCAA project team and project consultant, Zanzibar Building Agency (ZBA) during the project site meeting for inspecting the progress on 19 December 2019.

The 4.6 Billion Shillings project by TCAA kicked off in April 2019 following, TCAA and M/s. Peja East Africa of Netherlands contract signing for supply and installation of the system on August 2018. The Civil works was awarded to Tanzanian Company, Masasi construction.

ILS installation at AAKIA will enhance efficiency in Air Navigations Services provision as well as safety by enabling precise landing at the airport.

TCAA is a corporate body, established under the Civil Aviation Act, CAP 80 (R.E 2006). The Act mandates the Authority to regulate economic, safety and security aspect of the civil aviation industry as well as providing air navigations services in the United Republic of Tanzania.

Air navigation services are provided at 14 stations namely Dar es Salaam, Kilimanjaro, Tanga, Arusha, Mwanza, Tabora, Kigoma, Dodoma, Iringa, Songwe, S ngea, Mtwara, Zanzibar and Pemba.
