Tanzania: Turkey Eyes Tanzania Infectious Disease Unit

Turkey is looking to put down a $20 million investment in the health sector.

Head of Business Development for Pharmactive, Active for Your Health, Mr Can Adamoglu told the Citizen today that the areas of investment will include cardiology, infectious diseases and dermatitis.

Currently, there is no single test to diagnose eczema, and doctors rely on information about a patient and their family.

"Considering that most people across the world suffer from non-communicable diseases (NCDs), the move aims to widen service delivery and improve the lives of many Tanzanians," he said.

Statics from World Health Organisation (WHO) show that non communicable diseases kill 38 million people each year. Almost three quarters of NCD deaths - 28 million - occur in low and middle income countries.

He said Pharmactive is negotiating with various prospects partners in order to sign investment deal in Tanzania.
