TANZANIA ENTERS INTO YOUTHG EXCHANGE PROGRAMME WITH GERMANY FOR TECHNICAL EDUCATION

DAR-ES-SALAAM, Tanzania is set to benefit from an international youth exchange programme with Germany in technical education to support the country's industrialization drive.

Tanzanian National Economic Empowerment Council (NEEC) Executive Secretary Beng'i Issa said after opening a two-day workshop for stakeholders from the Tanzania Youth Coalition (TYC) that Tanzania would reap enormous benefits from the co-operation with Germany, which is rich in terms of knowledge and skills on technical education.

The workshop is more focused on improving the programme since Germany is more advanced in terms of technical education and skills, she said, adding that other countries taking part in the programme apart from Tanzania are South Africa and Benin.

Tanzanian youth will go to Germany on one-year courses to learn how their peers survive and later apply the knowledge and skills ton establish and develop processing industries.

A representative from the Germany Embassy here, Johannes Lauber, said governments need to be closer to the youth through such programme so that they could gain experience in various fields for their own development and that of the nation at large.

Our government will continue to collaborate with Tanzania and in this programme young people from both countries will continue to have an exchange programmes with the aim to get experience and knowledge, he added.

He said the youth exchange programmes for African countries helped young people engage in various issues and become an integral part of the development of their nations from their contributions.
