DAR-ES-SALAAM– The Ministry of Education and Vocational Training of Zanzibar, a semi-autonomous region of Tanzania has signed an agreement with the Korea International Co-operation Agency (Koica), an overseas development assistance agency of the republic of Korea (ROK) under which it will receive assistance amounting to 10 million US dollars to support the region’s education sector.
Dr Idrissa Muslim Hija, the Principal Secretary (PS) for the Zanzibar Ministry of Education, and Joonsung Park, KOICA’s Director, signed the agreement here Tuesday, witnessed by the Deputy Minister of Education, Mmanga Mjengo Mjawir.
The funds under the five-year agreement are to support the development of secondary schools, including learning environment, the expansion of schools, sanitation (water and toilets), and laboratories.
KOICA promised continued support for Zanzibar’s development.
