KUWAIT LAUNCHES AID PROGRAMME FOR DISABLED PEOPLE IN TANZANIA

KUWAIT CITY, Kuwait, Kuwait, on Sunday, launched an aid programme, to help the disabled people and those with albinism, in Tanzania.

It was reported that the programme, which costs 500,000 U.S. dollars, was launched Sunday, to mark the International Day of Disabled Persons.

The programme would last for one year, in a number of Tanzanian cities, including the Zanzibar Island, Kuwaiti Ambassador to Tanzania, Jassim Al-Najim, said.

It would be implemented in cooperation with non-governmental organisations, and other international groups, in Tanzania, he added.

The ambassador also presented, at the launching ceremony, to the Tanzanian side, various medical equipment, including wheelchairs and hearing aid devices.

The United Nations announced, Dec 3 as the International Day of Disabled Persons in 1992.
