Abuja: The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, announced that the ministry has initiated a review of its second quarter performance. This announcement was made during a review meeting held on Tuesday in Abuja with the heads of parastatal agencies under the ministry.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the minister emphasized that the review aligns with the deliverables set by the Central Delivery Coordinating Unit (CDCU) in the Presidency. Idris highlighted that this meeting serves as a follow-up to the performance bonds signed in August 2024 with the heads of agencies. He recalled signing a Performance Bond with President Bola Tinubu, outlining the ministry's key deliverables.
The minister stated, "We are here to listen to the Heads of Agencies and to see how far they have gone in the implementation of the key elements of those agreements signed and if there are challenges." The review aims to assess the progress made and ensure that all agencies stay on track with their mandates as outlined in the performance bond.
Idris noted that the meeting acts as a self-appraisal of the ministry's achievements ahead of the mid-term mark of the current administration. He explained that the exercise aims to identify existing challenges and chart a clear path forward to ensure effective delivery of the ministry's and its agencies' mandates.
The meeting was attended by prominent figures including the Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria, Mr Ali M. Ali, Directors-General of the Nigerian Television Authority, Abdulhamid Dembos, and Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Dr Mohammed Bulama. Also present were the Directors-General of the National Broadcasting Commission, Mr Charles Ebuebu, Voice of Nigeria, Malam Jibrin Ndace, Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria, Dr Olalekan Fadolapo, and National Orientation Agency, Mr Lanre Issa-Onilu.
