19 UNIVERSITIES IN TANZANIA BARRED FROM ADMITTING 1ST YEAR STUDENTS

DAR-ES-SALAAM, Tanzania's Commission for Universities has banned 19 tertiary institutions es from admitting students to any degree course during the 2017/18 academic year after the discovery of various shortcomings on their part.

The TCU on Tuesday announced that it had also stopped the admission of students to 75 bachelors degree programmes in 2017/18 from 22 varsities and colleges, including the Universities of Dar es Salaam and Dodoma.

The commission's Public Relations Office said in a statement that the affected institutions were aware of the move but spkespersons of the affected universities and colleges were not ready to comment on the matter.
